This fantastic and well-proportioned Mexican primitive figure depicts a man seated, covering his mouth with detailed, patterned clothing. The sculpture measures 8 ¾ in – 22.2 cm wide, 8 ¼ in – 21 cm deep and 16 ½ in – 42 cm high. The figure is dated to 300 A.D., provenance; Purchased from the Pinacotheca Gallery, London, 1970. There is an old break on one of the back legs that was repaired, shown in one of the photographs, but other than that, the piece is in exceptional condition considering the age. This amazing piece would make an excellent focal point or feature piece for many different rooms in any interior both minimalistic and contemporary.
